Area of Focus:  I work primarily with two groups of people; weight conscience individuals who are seeking personal support and insights to gain long-term control over their personal health destination and those who are seeking personal support to enhance their physique and performance in everyday life or a specific activity.

Since I was in college, I have been helping people with their personal health and fitness goals—it was the job I loved away from my “real” job. Four years ago I left my desk job to follow my life’s passion, pursuing personal training and wellness as my life’s focus.

My journey began with me working at a local, large “big box” gym.  While this was a great place to make an entrance into the health and fitness world, I soon realized that it was not a long-term fit for me.  In 2011 I left to form Trend Healthy where my clients and I could play by our own set of rules, with their goals driving decision making.

How I’m different from other trainers out there:

I take things beyond the gym.  Education lays the groundwork for success and is at the core of what I do. It’s the “give a man a fish vs. teach a man to fish” analogy.  I work with my clients to think about how daily decisions will affect their health over the long term.  I will work with you to truly help you achieve a healthier life, not just lift weights in the gym.  It’s vital to have the knowledge, tools and resources to make the right decisions about your health if success is to be sustainable.

Commitment to Education.   The field of personal fitness is akin to that of technology—what was all the rage yesterday is obsolete today.  Fad diets come and go seemingly every week. Only through constant and ongoing education is it possible to keep informed on what the best practices are, what works, and what to avoid.  Maintenance of the status quo does not work in this field.  I invest substantially in my own ongoing education in an effort to deliver the best possible experience and results for my clients.

I understand empathy.  Empathy is something that is required whenever you are working with another person to help them reach new ground.  Having had my own very serious health issues in my past, I understand how hard it can be to take that first step, look beyond failed past attempts and deal with setbacks as they arise–because inevitably, they will.  It’s being able to move on from these experiences and perhaps even learn from them that separates success from frustration.  I understand everyone requires different handling (i.e. drill sergeant vs. coach and friend) and I tailor what I do to what’s going to work for you.

Dedication to your goal.  I promise that you won’t find anyone more committed to your success. Yes, I do this as a way to make a living–but it’s so much more than that for me.  Seeing someone smile after losing that 20 lbs that has been following them around for the last 5 years is far more rewarding.

Core Beliefs

Trend Healthy has four core beliefs around which we conduct our business. We believe…

  1. Knowledge is power, and with it, people can take personal accountability for their own health.
  2. Each person is different, and there is no one-size fits all approach that works for everyone.
  3. Success is dependent on true lifestyle change, not quick-win solutions.
  4. In the Human Spirit. Regardless of false starts, personal obstacles or setbacks, everyone can achieve their own personal success.
